Booking Advice

Book early for July and August - Ericeira fills up with Portuguese and European holidaymakers in peak summer. Prices double and availability disappears. September and October offer the best combo: warm water, fewer crowds, and reasonable prices.

For longer stays (1 month+), skip hotels and look on local Facebook groups or Idealista for apartment rentals. A furnished 1-bedroom in the center runs about €1,475/month. Further from the center or sharing, you can get down to €800-1,000. Anything under €1,500 goes fast. Be aware that many landlords rent Sep-May and switch to Airbnb for June-August - so summer accommodation is the hardest to find.

Look beyond Ericeira center - When people say they "live in the Ericeira area," they might be in Ribamar, Santo Isidoro, Seixal, Carvoeira, or even outside Mafra. All worth checking if you're searching for something more affordable or spacious. Word of mouth works - ask around actively, as many of the best rentals never make it to listing sites.

Location matters less than you think - Ericeira town is small enough that everything is walkable. Stay in the center near Praça da República for restaurants and nightlife, or slightly north toward Ribeira d'Ilhas for quieter, more surf-focused stays.
