Aethos Ericeira

Aethos is the hotel that put Ericeira on the boutique travel map. Perched on the cliffs above Praia dos Pescadores, every room has unobstructed ocean views - you fall asleep to the sound of waves and wake up to the Atlantic stretching to the horizon.

The design is minimalist and considered - whitewashed walls, natural stone, clean lines that don't compete with the view. The rooftop pool is the centerpiece: an infinity edge overlooking the surf breaks, surrounded by sun loungers. It's the kind of place you go to for a dip and end up staying for hours.

Onda restaurant serves excellent Portuguese-Mediterranean cuisine with a focus on local seafood. The cliff-side terrace is one of the best dinner settings in Ericeira. Their wine list leans heavily into Portuguese producers.

Members' club: Aethos runs a membership program with access to their properties across Europe (currently Ericeira, Sardinia, Corsica, and Milan). If you're a regular visitor, it can be worth it - members get preferred rates and access to private events.

Tennis: One of the few places in the Ericeira area with proper tennis courts. They offer racket rental and can arrange coaching.

Weddings: Aethos has become a popular wedding venue. The cliff-top ceremony spot with ocean backdrop is hard to beat. They handle the full production - catering, flowers, coordination.

The location is central - a 5-minute walk down to the town square and the fishing harbor, 10 minutes to Ribeira d'Ilhas by car. Close enough to everything but elevated enough (literally and figuratively) to feel like an escape.
