15 years of Ericeira World Surfing Reserve
Ericeira marks 15 years as Europe’s first World Surfing Reserve, a designation granted by the Save The Waves Coalition in recognition of its wave quality, coastal value and long-standing surf community.
The anniversary highlights growing visitor numbers and the need to protect the seven main breaks and surrounding ecosystem. The Save The Waves Coalition has released a video explaining the World Surfing Reserves programme and the shared responsibility of residents, visitors and investors to keep the coastline sustainable.
