Mafra brings local sustainability and innovation to the United Nations
Mafra took part in the 2026 High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development at United Nations headquarters in New York. The municipality joined the ILMO network alongside Fundão, Pombal, Maia and PLANAPP, presenting its local model for the Sustainable Development Goals.
The forum focused on SDG 6, 9 and 11. Mafra showcased the Laboratório dos ODS, the Voluntary Local Review, the Municipal Pipeline for Sustainable Investment and the future Conselho Municipal para o Desenvolvimento Sustentável. Several international cities expressed interest in the Mafra Model.
