Motorcyclist injured in crash with van at Ribeira d'Ilhas

A motorcyclist was injured on Monday, 5 October, in a collision with a van on the road above Ribeira d'Ilhas, at the junction for the beach. The crash happened at around 13:00.

According to a witness who sent us the photo above, a grey van crashed into the motorcycle. The van can be seen stopped at the side of the road on the right of the photo. The bike came to rest on its side in the middle of the road, and the rider was lying on the ground while ambulance crew treated him. The rider appears to have been out with a motorcycle club: several bikers wearing club vests were at the scene, waving traffic around it, while cars queued back along the road towards Ericeira.

There is no word yet on the rider's condition or on how the collision happened. This is a breaking story and we will update it as we learn more.
