Municipality of Mafra maintains a ZERO Pollution Beach
The environmental association Zero has published its list of ZERO Pollution Beaches for 2026. The Municipality of Mafra retains only Praia de São Lourenço on the list, as it has for the past two years.
Of the 73 beaches nationwide, 45 are on the mainland, 21 in the Azores and seven in Madeira. Five municipalities joined the list this year, while ten others left it. The classification is based on three consecutive seasons of excellent water quality with no detectable levels of Escherichia coli or Enterococos intestinais.
