Traditional Sand and Salt Carpet returns this week to Ericeira
The traditional Sand and Salt Carpet returns to Ericeira this week for the Festas em Honra de Nossa Senhora da Boa Viagem. The carpet, created by volunteers, will be made on Rua de Santo António starting at 10:00 on 13 August.
The tradition began in 2011, led by António Pedro Brites. Volunteers work through the night to create the carpet, which is prepared for the Procissão das Velas. The event was paused from 2017 to 2021 and resumed in 2022.
