The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) forecasts hot and dry weather for the week of July 27 to August 2, 2026. The start of the week will be the hottest period, with maximum temperatures reaching or exceeding 40 °C on Monday, July 27, in the Douro, Tejo, and Guadiana valleys.
Temperatures will remain above seasonal averages across most of the country. Tropical nights are expected in the Sotavento Algarvio and, on some days, in the border areas of the Centro and Sul regions and the Douro, Tejo, and Guadiana valleys. Sea surface temperatures will range from 16 °C to 20 °C on the western coast and 17 °C to 19 °C on the southern coast.
