Construction of the Empa Ecological Park is underway
Construction of the Parque Ecológico da Empa has begun, according to the Câmara Municipal de Mafra. The project aims to restore the natural heritage and enhance the cultural and landscape value around Forte Milreu, within the Ericeira World Surfing Reserve.
The contract was awarded on 27 August after archaeological work was completed. The 1.1-million-euro initiative, funded by Portugal 2030, will last seven months and create a sustainable leisure area between Praia da Empa and Praia da Orelheira, integrated in the Rede Natura 2000 and the coastal protection strip.
