Ericeira gains 16-hectare Ecological Park between land and sea
Work has begun on the 16-hectare Parque Ecológico da Empa, north of Ericeira between Praia da Empa and Praia da Orelheira. Crews are clearing invasive species and upgrading existing footpaths around Forte de Milreu.
The project will plant 383 trees, 5,334 shrubs and 29,743 herbaceous plants, install smart irrigation and sustainable lighting, and preserve archaeological finds. Completion is set for the first quarter of 2027 at a cost of one million euros, part-funded by the FEDER programme.
