Praia da Empa hosts opening round of Billabong Ericeira Groms 2026
Praia da Empa hosted the opening round of the Billabong Ericeira Groms 2026 on the weekend. Seventy-four young surfers competed in six categories under unusually high temperatures and good wave conditions at Pedra Branca, Backdoor and Reef.
Óscar Moreno won the Sub-10 division, Nauê Brasil took the Sub-12 title, Vasco Leitão claimed the Sub-14 crown, Amina Kailani Last won the Sub-14 Feminino, Martinho de Barros topped the Sub-16 and Maria Inês Gama won the Sub-16 Feminino. The next rounds are scheduled for 18-19 July and 5-6 September.
