Surf | Young surfers shine at first stage of Billabong Ericeira Groms
The first stage of the Billabong Ericeira Groms 2026 took place on the opening weekend of July at Praia da Empa. Seventy-four young surfers competed in six age categories despite unusually high temperatures.
Winners were Óscar Moreno (Sub-10), Nauê Brasil (Sub-12), Vasco Leitão (Sub-14), Amina Kailani Last (Sub-14 Feminino), Martinho de Barros (Sub-16) and Maria Inês Gama (Sub-16 Feminino). The event ran over two days with good wave conditions at Pedra Branca, Backdoor and Reef.
