Image of the day | Between perfect waves and tradition, Ericeira wins over surfers
Ericeira is one of Europe’s top surf destinations, located on the Atlantic coast of Mafra municipality. The fishing village gained international recognition in 2011 when it became the first World Surfing Reserve in Europe, protecting eight kilometres of coastline that include famous breaks such as Ribeira d’Ilhas, Coxos, Pedra Branca and São Lourenço.
Surf schools, specialist shops and international competitions now form part of local life, blending the village’s fishing heritage with a thriving ocean culture that draws surfers of all levels year-round.
