“Jagozes - Continuity and Resistance”: book portrays the fishing community of Ericeira
Photographers Nuno Rocha and Pedro dos Reis will present their book “Jagozes — Continuidade e Resistência” on 27 June at 15:00 in Casa de Cultura Jaime Lobo e Silva, Ericeira.
The 18-month project records daily life in the fishing port, from sea work and fish sales to community events such as the procession of Nossa Senhora da Boa Viagem. It also documents the shift from wooden to aluminium boats and the changes this brings to local work practices.
Published by Câmara Municipal de Mafra with Mar 2030 funding, the book preserves the maritime heritage of Ericeira and the wider municipality.
