The banks of the Rio Lizandro will gain a new life
Work has begun on the Requalificação do Corredor Ribeirinho project along the Rio Lizandro between Ribeira da Mata Pequena and Ponte do Carvalhal in the União das Freguesias de Igreja Nova e Cheleiros.
The scheme covers 4,650 metres of waterway and more than nine hectares of riverbank. It includes removal of invasive species, planting of native trees and plants, bank stabilisation and a new interpretative trail for walkers. The 497,000 euro project receives 198,800 euro from the European Union through the Programa Regional Lisboa 2030 (FEDER).
